Overview
This Scholarship is supported by the children of Glenda Rutz, an inspiration and guiding light to many, to honour her by mentoring, supporting and inspiring others to spread kindness and strive to make a difference. The Scholarship aims to celebrate passion and dedication by supporting a high achieving orthoptics student in their second year of study.
Recipients of the Scholarship will be provided with the opportunity to receive mentorship from Glenda’s children, Troy Rutz and Sarah Najdek, to support and nurture excellence in their respective fields of expertise, in the spirit of their mother’s legacy.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship an applicant must:
- Be in their second year of the UTS Master of Orthoptics degree; and
- Have achieved a GPA of 5 in their first year; and
- Apply for this Scholarship online using the UTS Scholarship Application Form, addressing the criteria as outlined in Clause 6: Recipient Selection Criteria; and
- Be available to attend an interview (in person or via Zoom).
Selection process
As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:
- Academic Merit (GPA in first year of study)
- Commitment to Orthoptics – Demonstrated experiences, interests, or inspirations that have motivated the applicant to pursue a career in Orthoptics.
- Academic and Career Aspirations – Clear articulation of how receiving the scholarship will support the applicant in achieving their academic and professional goals.
- Community and Social Impact – Evidence of past contributions to society and/or others, with a vision for continuing or expanding that impact in the future.
