Using a VET qualification to apply for UTS

VET studies – through TAFE, college or another provider – is one of the best pathways available in meeting the entry requirements for university. We value the skills and experience VET graduates bring to university and we will work with you to recognise your previous study. You may even be able to have your previous qualification count as credit towards your degree.

What VET qualifications allow entry to UTS?

Course requirements are different, so make sure you check whether your course accepts your VET qualification.

All UTS courses will consider a:

  • Certificate IV Tertiary Preparation
  • Completed AQF Diploma 
  • Completed AQF Advanced Diploma.

Engineering, IT, Business and Science will also consider a Certificate IV.

How do I receive credit for my previous studies?

We offer recognition of prior learning (RPL) to acknowledge our applicants’ backgrounds, experiences, and previous study such as VET qualifications.

You can use our RPL assessment tool to search your qualifications and find out if RPL is available for your intended course.

How do I apply to UTS using my VET qualification?

You can apply using your VET qualification through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Visit undergraduate applications for more information on how to apply.
