How your subject marks can boost your rank
We believe that your ability might be better measured by looking at your relevant subject marks in addition to your ATAR.
Find out more about the Year 12 subject scheme, whether you are eligible and how it may affect your undergraduate application.
What is the Year 12 subject scheme?
The Year 12 subject scheme awards adjustments towards your selection rank based on your marks in high school subjects relevant to your chosen UTS course.
The scheme is automatically applied when applying to participating courses – you do not need to complete an additional application.
Example: Year 12 subject scheme for Bachelor of Business application
You achieve a Band 6 in Economics on your HSC. When you apply for a full-time Bachelor of Business at UTS, your Band 6 in Economics will earn 5 adjustments towards your selection rank.
Who is eligible for the Year 12 subject scheme?
You’re eligible to receive adjustments if you are a recent school leaver who has:
- applied for a UTS course that awards adjustments
- a minimum ATAR of 69 (or interstate equivalent)
- completed the relevant HSC subjects.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
If you are studying an IB, you are still eligible for adjustments. Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) set out how IB subjects compare to NSW HSC subjects (opens external site).
Interstate applicants
If you are not studying NSW HSC courses, UAC set out how your results are equivalent to NSW HSC courses. Visit UAC’s admission criteria (opens external site) for more information.
Which UTS courses award adjustments under the Year 12 subject scheme?
The adjustment factors table outlines all the UTS courses that offer adjustment points under the scheme.
Not all courses offer adjustment points and eligible courses can change year to year.
How many adjustments are available under the Year 12 subject scheme?
The maximum number of adjustments you can be awarded for each UTS course you’ve applied to is five.
