Register for the next aptitude test
The next test is on Monday, 13 January 2025 at the UTS City Campus.
The January Aptitude Assessment is for recent (HSC 2024 students) and non-recent school leavers who want to commence study in Autumn 2025 (commences on 17 February 2025) and who have not completed the assessment in the last 12 months.
Future students should have a current application lodged with the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) and choose the UTS Science course as their first preference.
Register for the Science Aptitude Test.
Registration closes 5 January 2025. The last date to change your UAC first preference to a UTS Science course is 16 January 2025.
Offers will be made to eligible applicants on 23 January 2025.
Who is the Science Aptitude Test for?
Taking the test is an alternative entry to undergraduate science courses.
If you want to study science but do not meet the minimum selection rank for your course, by taking the test you may be offered a place. This depends on your performance on the test and whether you show an aptitude for science or mathematics.
The aptitude assessment can only be taken once per calendar year. So, if you completed the assessment in July 2024, you could next sit the assessment again in July 2025.
What courses make offers based on the Science Aptitude Test?
All UTS Science undergraduate courses consider the test except for:
- Bachelor of Advanced Science
- combined courses
- honours courses.
How do I apply to UTS using the Science Aptitude Test?
If you want to study science at UTS through the aptitude test, you will need to:
- Apply for your course through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC).
- Have a UTS Science course listed as your first preference. If you are trying to decide between two or more UTS Science courses, list them according to your preference.
- Register for the science aptitude test.
- Sit the test. Make sure to bring photo ID, otherwise you will be unable to sit the test.
If you are successful, you will be sent an offer from UAC. If you do not receive an offer, it is likely because there are no available places in your preference course or you did not meet the minimum requirement for your preference course.
