Combine a paid cadetship with university study
If you’re undertaking a paid cadetship, you can use the UTS Business School Cadetship Entry scheme to start studying at UTS.

What is the cadetship entry scheme?
The cadetship entry scheme is for Year 12 high school students who have secured at least a one year paid cadetship. The cadetship provides cadets with paid employment while they undertake university studies, allowing you to combine the practical experience and professional development of employment with the academic challenge of a university degree.
What courses can I study through the cadetship entry scheme?
The following courses are available:
- Bachelor of Business
- Bachelor of Economics
- Bachelor of Management majoring in:
Who is eligible for the cadetship entry scheme?
To apply using the scheme, you need to show that you are involved in a cadetship and are eligible to matriculate.
Involvement in a cadetship
You can satisfy involvement in a cadetship by either:
- currently undertaking a minimum one-year paid cadetship, or
- having received a cadetship official letter of offer for a minimum one-year paid cadetship and will start your employment in the year you are applying to UTS.
Eligibility to matriculate
To be eligible to matriculate at UTS, you must satisfy at least one of the following:
- have attained a full NSW HSC or equivalent with an ATAR of 69 (excluding adjustment points), or
- completion of a UTS Foundation Studies course, a recognised tertiary preparation course, associate diploma, Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma or advanced diploma, or
- completion of one year full-time or equivalent of tertiary studies from a single course within the same institution, or
- be at least 20 years of age on 1 March for the year of intake (e.g. if you are applying to start your study at UTS in 2025, the date would be 1 March 2025).

How do I apply to UTS using the cadetship entry scheme?
To apply through the business cadetship scheme, you need to complete:
- a Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) application. You must list one of the courses included in the scheme as your highest preference to be eligible.
- a cadetship entry scheme application form.
If you are successful, you will receive an offer through UAC – more information is available on accepting an offer.
