We value your uniqueness
When you apply to UTS, we understand that everyone's journey is different. Entry schemes allow us to consider more than your ATAR. This can include your performance in certain high school subjects, your passion for specific study areas, any educational challenges you’ve faced, and whether you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
How entry schemes work
UTS has several entry schemes that can make your UAC application more competitive, so you’re more likely to receive an offer to your preferred course.
Adjustments can be added to your ATAR or other qualification rank to form a selection rank. This rank is what UTS uses to consider your application.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can receive adjustments from multiple entry schemes.
“The decision to apply for the Early Entry program for me was simple, and I felt relieved knowing I wouldn’t have to put too much pressure on myself for the HSC.”
Entry schemes at UTS
These entry schemes apply to all of our study areas.
UTS Early Entry program
If you've excelled in Year 11, our Early Entry program rewards the hard work you've put into your studies. Successful applicants receive a provisional offer before their HSC/IB exams.
Year 12 subject scheme
If you're a current high school student or recently graduated, you're eligible for the Year 12 subject scheme. The scheme rewards you with adjustments based on your performance in high school subjects relevant to your chosen course.
Elite athletes and performers
If you're an elite athlete or performer who has represented your school or state at a national level, and your studies have been affected, this scheme is for you.
Schools Recommendation Scheme
The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) recognises your skills and achievements beyond your Year 12 grades, often based on a recommendation from your school principal or careers advisor.
InpUTS
If you've experienced long-term disadvantages that have affected your education, you may be eligible for selection rank adjustments through inpUTS.
Specific study area entry schemes
These schemes consider your interest or talents in a particular study area relevant to your chosen UTS course.
UTS Business School Cadetship Entry Scheme
If you are undertaking a paid cadetship, you can use the UTS Business School Cadetship Entry scheme to start studying at UTS. Find out what courses are available, whether you are eligible and how to apply.
Design and Architecture portfolio scheme
The portfolio scheme allows non-current school leavers to apply for undergraduate Design and Architecture courses using their portfolio rather than academic results. If you’re worried your academic results may not get you a place in your course, consider applying through the scheme.
Engineering and IT questionnaire
Applying to UTS for Engineering or IT? Your Engineering and IT Questionnaire can strengthen your UAC application, even if your selection rank falls short by one to three points. Demonstrate your motivation and passion for these fields by submitting the questionnaire.
Music and sound design portfolio scheme
The music and sound design portfolio scheme allows you to submit your work for up to five extra adjustments. These adjustments will go towards your selection rank and improve your application to study at UTS.
Science aptitude test
The aptitude assessment is a multiple-choice test of your general knowledge, logic and language skills. If you perform well, you may be offered a place at UTS. Find out when the next test is and how to register.
