To encourage academic excellence in the Bachelor of Design in Architecture and provide the opportunity for a student to gain insight into the day-to-day operation of the architectural profession through a paid work placement.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa.
- Be enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Design in Architecture (C10004)
- Have successfully completed a minimum 96 credit points or equivalent in their course at the time of scholarship selection.
- Achieved a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 80 or above over the duration of their current UTS course
- All applicants must submit an extended curriculum vitae.
- All applicants must submit a digital portfolio (max 3mb) of 6 x A4 landscape pages including:
- five pages of digital files of scans and/or photographs (compressed jpegs for web viewing) of original design work appropriate to the course
- one page written submission (150–200 words) that selects and identifies one of the submitted pieces of work, addressing the aims of the work and why it succeeded
- All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible.
- All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person.

Selection process
As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:
- Passion for and motivation to pursue a career in Architecture using innovative thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills
- Initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives
- Knowledge of Architecture
- Alignment of values, goals and culture with those of Cox Architecture, including motivation to participate in a paid work placement at Cox Architecture
- Academic merit, personal experience and achievement may also be taken into consideration.
