What pathway do I need to follow to become an architect?
To use the title of ‘Architect’ in NSW*, you’ll need to complete three steps to meet the requirements for professional registration:
- Complete an accredited architecture degree sequence:
- UTS Bachelor of Design in Architecture + UTS Master of Architecture
- UTS Master of Architecture (if you’ve previously completed an undergraduate degree in architecture elsewhere)
- Sit the architectural practice exam.
- Apply for professional registration with the NSW Architects Registration Board.
NSW registration is also recognised in other Australian states and territories (upon application) and in select countries**.

Are UTS Architecture courses accredited?
Prepare for professional registration in Australia and overseas by completing both the UTS Bachelor of Design in Architecture + Master of Architecture. This course progression is accredited by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia and recognised by the NSW Architects Registration Board, the Australian Institute of Architects and the Commonwealth Association of Architects.
Can I study architecture on campus at UTS?
