What motivated you to study this degree/major?
I love being outdoors and being fascinated by the amazing diversity of nature.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
I love the fieldwork. Getting out and stuck into nature is so much fun. It's amazing that I can say snorkelling with turtles, hanging with kangaroos and bushwalking regularly is part of my uni work!
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
UTS is really well-known for its amazing fieldwork based courses. I loved how practical UTS was. UTS has a great reputation in its support services for students too.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
One word: FUN! I have enjoyed every moment of my degree. The lecturers are so passionate about what they do and they pass this passion onto their students.
What advice you would give to students studying this degree?
One of the best choices I made was to volunteer from the get-go. Volunteering for honours and masters students work is a great way to explore what you're really interested in outside of class. Volunteering in the labs and in the field definitely opened up doors for me in terms of opportunities for further study and my new teaching assistant role.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
I have just completed my undergraduate degree and have now enrolled in a Masters of Research at UTS. I would love to teach people about the amazing world we live in. Being out in the field, helping others learn would be my absolute element. I dream of one day using my Spanish skills to do some conservation work in a Spanish speaking country.
What other activities do you participate/do at uni?
Peer networking, volunteering.
