What is your major?
Pre-medicine.
What did you do before you started your course?
I finished high school the year before I started my course. In the holidays before university, I went on a trip to Tanzania where I volunteered in a hospital.
What motivated you to study this degree/major?
The UTS open day talks motivated me to study this degree, as I hope to study medicine in the future.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
It is really nice that the cohort is relatively small so you get to know the people in your degree and form friendships. Class discussions and debates are always very interesting, and the learning environment is very pleasant as everyone is motivated to learn.
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
It is very easy to get to, my degree looked the most interesting, and they have many facilities and opportunities which other universities don't have to the same extent.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
Whilst there are a lot more contact hours than many other degrees, most classes and practicals are engaging and interesting. The lab demonstrators are very really friendly, the facilities are great, and I have a lot of fun with friends.
What advice you would give to students studying this degree?
Whilst it is an interesting and fun degree, there is quite a lot of work as well. I would encourage you to go to lectures and try to keep on top of your work instead of leaving assignments to the night before.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
My degree prepares you for medicine, so I hope that I get into that, where I will hopefully become a doctor. If not, I will most likely go on to study another degree.
What other activities do you participate/do at uni?
I play hockey for UTS hockey club and am playing hockey for uni games. I am also part of the Medsoc Society, Science Society, and German Society. I will do a Diploma of Languages starting next session as well.
