How do I enrol in subjects?

Once you have been admitted to a course you will have access to web enrolment through "My Student Admin" using your student ID and your email password.

Before commencing web enrolment all students should check the Online Handbook to ensure you understand the course completion requirements, the typical program and any subject prerequisites and then use the online Timetable Planner to avoid choosing subjects where class times clash.

New and continuing students may enrol or withdraw subjects from any computer with access to My Student Admin within the allowable enrolment periods throughout the year.

How do I change my subject enrolment?

Students use the enrolment and withdrawal functions in My Student Admin to change their enrolment providing it is within the allowable dates for adding and deleting subjects.

I am a continuing student when do I enrol for the following year?

Enrolment for continuing students usually opens around the mid October. Visit this page for more information. 

A firm date will be advised to students via their UTS emails later in the year.

Can I enrol into Summer subjects?

  • Providing a subject is part of a student's normal course requirements and the prerequisites have been met, students may enrol into Summer subjects offered at UTS.
  • DAB usually offers a very small number of subjects which may be undertaken over Summer. 
  • A list of DAB subjects on offer for the next Summer session and the timetable for these subjects will be available on the DAB website in October or November.

The subject I want to enrol into is full, what can I do?

If you are following the typical program and having problems enrolling into a compulsory subject for your course, you should contact Student Centre to ask for their assistance. When the subject you want to enrol into is an elective or an option from a choice of subjects, it is recommended that you complete your enrolment as early as you can because enrolment will be on a first come basis.

Students often amend their enrolments right up until the beginning of each session and therefore availability of places in subjects and classes may change. It is therefore recommended that if your enrolment in a particular subject was unsuccessful in the first instance you should continue to try for a place on My Student Admin.

Can I enrol into a subject that is not on my study plan?

Study plans are set up so that students enrolling online will have access to all the core subjects and subject choices which are necessary to fulfil course completion requirements.

DAB undergraduate students have an elective component of 24cp. These students may request cross faculty electives to be added to their plan by using the e-Request function in My Student Enquiries.

Other than these free choice electives there might occasionally be instances where a substitute subject may be approved for a particular student. Approval must be given in writing by your Course Director. You should collect an application form "Subject Substitute" which is available at the Student Centre before meeting with the appropriate advisor. The signed form is returned to the Student Centre so that the appropriate processing can be completed on the student's study plan to allow web enrolment by the student.

Approval to substitute a subject in a course does not constitute an offer of a place in the subject. Subject prerequisites and class place availability will still apply.

Can I still enrol if I do not meet the prerequisite?

Where a student can demonstrate to the relevant subject coordinator that they have met the required academic requisite(s) for a particular subject through some form of alternative study or work experience, it is possible to have the requisite waived on the student system.

Students should lodge an "e-request". This form is available for download from the web via My Student Enquiries.

Can I enrol into two subjects in the same session when one is a prerequisite of the other?

The web enrolment system will prevent students from enrolling two subjects for the same session where one is subject is the prerequisite of the other.

If a student believes that their circumstances warrants a waiver of a prerequisite they should lodge an e-request via My Student Enquiries.
