Are you a UTS student currently enrolled in a single degree? Do you want to give your studies a global edge? You may be eligible to transfer to a combined degree with new Bachelor of International Studies.
To be eligible for a transfer to the new Bachelor of International Studies, you should:
- have successfully completed at least one year (48cp) of full-time study in your current degree*
- maintain a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of Credit in all the subjects you’ve completed in your current degree (recommended).
* Note: the new International Honours pathway will not be available until 2025. Students eligible to participate in the International Honours pathway will be completing their In-country study year in the last year of their degree which may affect their eligibility for OS-HELP.
The transfer process
Submit an application for internal course transfer – continuing through My Student Portal. Make sure you list at least two preferences for your language and culture major on your transfer application.
Your faculty will need to approve the transfer. Approval is normally subject to availability in existing country majors within the International Studies degree.
Place allocations
Where possible, we try to place all transferring students in their first preference. However, places are limited, so we can’t guarantee that you’ll get your first choice. Popular majors that often fill up include Japanese, French and Spanish.
We reserve the right to allocate places in majors based on our resources, and on our arrangements with overseas universities.
Transferring out of a combined degree
If you’re an International Studies combined degree student and you want to transfer to a single degree, you’ll need approval from the Faculty who owns your professional degree.
For example, if you’re currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Bachelor of Science, the Faculty of Science will need to approve your transfer request to the single Bachelor of Science degree.
Transferring to another UTS degree
If you wish to transfer to another UTS degree (e.g. from Science to Business), the following guidelines apply:
- Domestic and international undergraduate students should complete an application for undergraduate study through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).
Please note that the International Honours year overseas will only be available from 2025 onwards. Students considering applying for recognition of prior learning should note that their pattern of enrolment for the degree may be affected.
