WHO CC UTS is continually incorporating research literacy and capacity building into their work. Specific projects that have addressed these needs in the region have been the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice survey undertaken in PNG as part of the Reproductive Health Training Unit monitoring and evaluation; the maternal and child health longitudinal study; and DFAT Australian Awards Fellowship which always holds sessions on data collection, understanding implications of data, literature searching, and analysing the evidence.
A gradual increase in the research literacy and capacity of Pacific nursing and midwifery leaders will lead to more evidence based health care in the region.
