To be considered for a scholarship, you need to apply for your research course by the closing dates.
The application process can take some time. We recommend starting the pre-application process at least six weeks before the closing date if you plan to apply for a scholarship. This will give you time to connect with your potential faculty, prepare documents and submit your application.
Scholarship deadlines
If you have confirmed funding through a faculty scholarship, external scholarship, IDP or are self-funding you can apply at any time.

Start, enrolment & census dates
There are different start, enrolment and census dates for research and coursework programs. Research students can undertake coursework subjects, which means you will need to comply with both the coursework and research dates.
Your start date will be provided in your Letter of Offer. You can agree on a different date with your faculty and supervisor. If you have coursework subjects in your research program, you may need to commence before the coursework census date.
The last day to enrol is the last day you can:
- enrol for your research program within the session
- add a coursework subject to your research program for that session, and
- swap a coursework class time.
How to complete your enrolment.
The census date is the last day to withdraw from a subject or degree without academic penalty.
