The UTS Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a unique qualification designed for working First Nations professionals who aspire to build their business knowledge and practical skills.
Information for employers
The BBA course includes content and delivery methods tailored specifically at those employed in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Delivery follows an MBA model of applied, intensive, collaborative learning which builds confidence, develops sophisticated, practical professional business skills and networks and personal connections which last a lifetime.
Real-life application plus academic rigour
Throughout the three-year course, students have the opportunity to incorporate real-world challenges from their workplace into their assignments, putting into practice the theory taught from within the degree, and adding value to your organisation from day one.
Students learn more than business skills – they learn the technical and leadership skills to drive positive change in their communities and the institutions or organisations they work in.
What do our students need from their employers?
There are no financial costs to employers. All travel and accommodation costs are met by UTS in partnership with the Commonwealth government. Fees for the course are supported by the Commonwealth and students are eligible to defer payment using the HECS HELP system.
What we do need from you is supporting the provision of study leave. The course requires students take 30 days of study leave annually, structured as six one-week blocks throughout the year.
Students travel to UTS’ vibrant Sydney campus on the weekend prior to the block, undertake face-to-face learning from Monday morning to Saturday early afternoon, and then return home. The mode of intensive delivery allows students to focus on their learning experience as they’re away from family, community and work responsibilities. Most assessment occurs on campus during teaching days to give that important break from study in between blocks.
Who is the BBA for?
This course is designed for First Nations high achieving early and mid-career employees, who have progressed in their careers but have not had the chance to engage in tertiary education. The BBA aims to formalise and build on the wide range of experience and knowledge that students bring to the program, developed through their careers.
The course is also designed for employers keen to support the professional development and capability building of their employees and contribute to strategic goals of workplaces and communities.
Through this course, UTS supports the self-determined aspiration and potential of First Nations people, creating economic empowerment through effective participation in employment, business and leadership.
