Why study Accounting?
Accounting – it’s the language of business. Accounting is all about financial transactions, and how those transactions contribute to effective decision-making processes at senior organisational levels. It deals with the evaluation and analysis of the financial operations of businesses and organisations, and translating this knowledge into understandable and demonstrable results. It provides the rules and foundations for the monetary measurement and representation of all business activities.
Career options include accounting and finance roles in commercial firms and professional accounting and advisory firms, and management-level positions in industry or government, as well as not-for-profit organisations. With the CPAA and CAANZ qualifications being recognised internationally, the prospect for overseas employment is also enhanced.
Get inspired
Accounting in general can offer one of the best career paths available in terms of long-term employment prospects, financial reward, satisfaction and challenge, overseas recognition of qualifications and opportunities to work abroad. We have a highly practical course, with many of our teaching staff operating as industry professionals.
Connect with industry
We are fully accredited by, and maintain close professional relationships with, CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
