What you’ll study
This postgraduate degree gives you the opportunity to meet your unique career goals and interests. You'll complete four subjects of your choice from the 15 on offer, many of which have been accredited by the Trans-Tasman Intellectual Property Attorneys Board (TTIPAB).
Going beyond theory, you'll get the chance to experience law first-hand and build knowledge of and skills in reasoning, negotiation and analysis. While all TTIPAB accredited subjects are timetabled each year, please note that some subjects may not be offered in every session.

First year
Your year of study will see you choose your own learning path. You’ll undertake two core subjects followed by two Intellectual Property Options subjects of your choice, choosing from topics such as patent specification drafting and trade marks practice depending on successful completion of prerequisites, copyright law and more.
Course highlights
This course is designed to build your understanding of trade marks, patents or design law and practice in an Australian and New Zealand context. You'll also study the legal processes and regulations that apply to these disciplines and how to advise on issues of infringement, validity and more.

Industry accreditation
Depending on the subjects taken, and subject to final board approval, where applicants have a requisite tertiary qualification as stipulated by the Trans-Tasman Intellectual Property Attorneys Board (TTIPAB), graduates may seek registration as a trade marks attorney in Australia and may fulfil part of the knowledge requirements for registration as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney in Australia and New Zealand. Prospective students should check with the TTIPAB for specific subjects required to be completed for registration.
