What you’ll study
Flexible learning means you can complete your studies in the way that suits you. This degree can be completed by day or evening, in-person, online (with a choice of online electives), and in a part-time or full-time capacity. You'll complete a range of core subjects to build essential legal knowledge and understanding in areas like criminal, property, administrative and constitutional law.
You'll then align your learning to your area of interest with your choice of JD optional and legal theory subjects such as animal law, advanced criminal law, technological regulation, corporate governance and environmental ethics.

First year
In your first year, you’ll commence your studies with a range of core JD subjects. Starting with the foundations, you'll establish a comprehensive fundamental knowledge of Australian law and its role in society, from contracts to the Constitution. -
Second year
Continuing from year one, you'll continue your core JD stream and begin to establish expertise. You'll learn about key areas, like administrative, property and international law, establishing a well-rounded understanding of the multifaceted nature of the legal profession. -
Third year
You’ll finalise your remaining core subjects before completing your choice of JD Options and Legal Theory units. This will tailor your educational journey and provide an ideal stepping stone towards your future career in your chosen area of law.
Course highlights
Through theory, research, and practical learning, you'll get the chance to establish a solid knowledge of the latest legal perspectives. This course covers a broad range of areas, from civil practice to equity and trusts, and gives you an opportunity to develop reasoning, analysis, and negotiation capabilities in professional settings.
