Offered at a postgraduate level, this program contains subjects accredited by the Trans-Tasman Intellectual Property Attorneys Board (TTIPAB), meaning you'll receive only the best, most up-to-date education in IP, trade mark, patent and design law.

What you'll study

Delivered entirely online, this program allows you to learn at the time and place that best fits your unique situation and lifestyle. You'll undertake three core subjects and three subjects of your choice, selecting from a wide array of up-to-date topics in intellectual property, including patent, trade mark and design law.  

UTS takes you beyond the textbook, giving you the chance to build critical skills in reason, analysis, and more. Please note that some subjects may not be available in every session.

    This degree allows you to choose your own path, selecting elective subjects that best meet your unique goals and interests. Discover topics like design law and practice, history and theory of intellectual property, copyright law and more. 

Course highlights

This program is designed to equip you with an up-to-date understanding of the regulations and legal procedures that apply to trade marks, patents and other elements of Intellectual Property in Australia and New Zealand. Learning from experts, you’ll get the chance to acquire advanced knowledge of IP law and practice. 

Industry accreditation

Depending on the subjects taken, and subject to final board approval, where applicants have a requisite tertiary qualification as stipulated by the Trans-Tasman Intellectual Property Attorneys Board (TTIPAB), graduates may seek registration as a trade marks attorney in Australia and may fulfil part of the knowledge requirements for registration as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney in Australia and New Zealand. Prospective students should check with the TTIPAB for specific subjects required to be completed for registration.
