  This course is designed for aspiring professionals in medicine, pharmaceuticals, or quantum sciences, seeking to advance their careers with a comprehensive understanding of their chosen field.   What sets this course apart is the option to specialise in one of three cutting-edge majors: Pre-medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Quantum Technology. Each major offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, with opportunities to work with high-quality specimens, engage in advanced research, and develop effective communication skills.

  You will gain a deep understanding of your chosen discipline, from human anatomy and drug impacts in the Pre-medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences majors to the intricacies of quantum devices in the Quantum Technology major. The course emphasises hands-on learning through professional placements, internships, and access to state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring you are well-prepared for postgraduate study or immediate entry into the professional world.

  Teaching methods include research-informed lectures, laboratory work, and real-world placements, providing a dynamic and interactive learning environment. You will benefit from personalised attention and the chance to tailor your studies through elective subjects and sub-majors, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to excel in your future career.

  Course features

  Students can choose from the following three majors:

  • Pre-medicine: Students can build expertise in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry in preparation for postgraduate medicine or a diversity of health care career choices. Curriculum combines research-informed theoretical learning with hands-on study in areas like pharmacology and genetics, and students work with high-quality specimens in our world-class Surgical and Anatomical Science Facility. An Indigenous health subject prepares students to work with and for Australia’s First Nations people, while a third-year capstone project helps them build highly effective science communication skills.
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences: This major combines a range of medical science subjects with extended learning in chemistry and pharmacology. Students gain a broad understanding of the human body and the impacts of drugs on bodily systems via subjects in anatomy and physiology, building the skills and confidence to work in clinical and medical science environments. An Indigenous health subject prepares them to work with and for Australia’s First Nations people, while a third-year capstone project helps them build highly effective science communication skills.
    • By the end of their studies, students are ready for postgraduate pharmacy or for a wealth of career opportunities across the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Quantum Technology: This major puts students at the cutting edge of this critical scientific discipline. As part of a carefully chosen cohort, they benefit from highly personalised learning opportunities that offer plenty of face time with both research and teaching staff. They also gain hands-on experience with quantum devices and optical systems and can add breadth to their skill sets by taking a sub-major in Quantum Computing and Communications, or Engineering. What’s more, with access to professional placements and cross-faculty electives, students can tailor their studies to suit their future goals.

  Your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a score between 0.00 and 99.95. It shows you how you rank compared to all the students in your year group in New South Wales. A selection rank combines your ATAR with any other adjustment points that make up your overall university entrance score. Your selection rank may differ from university to university, depending on the adjustment points granted to you at each institution.

  Employers tell us the skills our graduates acquire from undertaking a Transdisciplinary Elective sets them apart from the crowd. That’s why we have embedded this program into every undergraduate degree.

  All you need to do is choose the Elective that inspires you the most.

  Transdisciplinary Electives integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines, allowing you to approach complex problems from a range of perspectives.

  By combining methods and insights from various disciplines, transdisciplinary learning often leads to breakthrough ideas and creative innovations that may not be possible within the confines of a single discipline.

  If you find yourself rapt by the world of innovation – you can pair your core degree with a Diploma in Innovation, graduating with two qualifications in the same timeframe. 

  In both instances, you’ll work on a real-world challenge presented by an industry partner organisation – partners who often create career pathways for our graduates.

  This course is offered on a three-year, full-time or six-year, part-time basis. Part-time students are required to attend some classes in daytime hours.

• Admission requirements arrow_forward_ios

  Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

  Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

• Domestic course fees arrow_forward_ios

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

  All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.

  Indicative total tuition fee:  $28,674.79 

  Additional Costs 

  Your tuition fees do not include: 

  • The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), which supports student services and activities. If eligible, you can defer this fee using SA-HELP.
  • Textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.
  • Any applicable payment processing fees (e.g., credit card surcharges).

  • Your actual fees depend on the year you enrol, your study load and the subjects you choose. Some subjects fall into different student contribution bands.
