What you’ll study

You will develop the ability to think conceptually and understand the complex contexts in which you are designing with a strong emphasis on practice and research. Through intensive collaborative design studios, you will develop, discuss and debate ideas, supported by input from industry contacts and stakeholders.

You'll engage with cutting-edge technologies and develop a research-informed design approach with skills and interdisciplinary knowledge to lead in this dynamic and expanding field. Upon completion, you'll be well-equipped for careers in various sectors, including adaptive re-use, performative space, commercial and residential interiors or event and exhibition design.

Typical course program

Students must complete 48 credit points of Honours Subjects. The course combines theory with practice. In collaboration with the Investigations: Research and Conceptualisation studio, you'll engage in research projects to refine your ideas. You'll experiment with practical exercises and undertake a major project that involves analysing Sydney's public spaces to design and construct an installation for public interaction.
