Maths Readiness Survey (MRS)
We recognise that students enter UTS with varying backgrounds in mathematics. The Maths Readiness Survey is designed to help commencing undergraduate Computing Science, Engineering and Science students select the first-year mathematics subject most appropriate to their background.
Completion of the MRS is mandatory for Engineering & IT and Science students enrolling in 33130 Mathematics 1.
How to take the MRS
- In the week before the MRS testing season commences you will receive an email from the MRS coordinator.
- The email will provide links to the MRS and practice tests.
- There is nothing on your timetable to view concerning the MRS.
- Make sure that you have activated and read your UTS student email, as the MRS runs BEFORE the upcoming Session.
MRS Practice
The MRS practice is available on the MRS Canvas website. If you are enrolled in 33130 then it is available to you in the Modules section.
Outcome of the MRS
The outcomes of the MRS are as follows:
Result | outcome |
---|---|
Satisfactory | Enrolment in 33130 continues |
Unsatisfactory or no attempt | You will be automatically withdrawn from 33130 Mathematics 1 and enrolled in 35010 Foundation Mathematics. You will not be permitted to attempt 33130 until you successfully complete 35010. |
