Economics – the flow of goods, services and finances within a society – is a fundamental aspect of public health. What you’ll study
Within your Public Health studies, you'll complete core subjects to build an essential understanding of areas like epidemiology, health systems and disease prevention and control. First year
Your first year of study will see you undertake a range of core Economics subjects to attain fundamental skills in strategic decision-making, statistics and quantitative methods. You’ll also complete foundational Public Health subjects and learn about epidemiology. -
Second year
Building on last year, you’ll continue your core Public Health studies, attaining insights into primary care, health systems and disease prevention and control. You’ll also get to continue your Economics studies and develop vital collaboration competencies through your Transdisciplinary elective. -
Third year
You’ll learn about disease prevention and management, health promotion and project management this year. In Economics, you’ll be able to specialise your learning with your choice of electives in areas ranging from competition and strategy to environmentalism. -
Fourth year
You’ll conclude your studies in your final year by completing all remaining subjects in your core and elective streams. You’ll also get the chance to experience hands-on learning in a real health environment through your professional placement. -
Honours
Eligible students can apply for the Bachelor of Public Health (Honours). Completion of this program requires an additional year of full-time study.
