Why study Economics?
People and business go hand in hand. Whether you work in insurance or banking, marketing or product design, consulting or human resources, understanding why people do what they do is key to delivering better business outcomes.
Economics is fundamentally about choices and the impact of our choices on each other and on society. The ability to think like an economist is a powerful tool, regardless of where your career takes you!
Its insights can be used in a wide range of settings, including financial decision making, health decisions, education decisions and in addressing environmental issues like climate change. It’s useful across many domains, including fields such as consulting, financial services, human resource management, marketing and product design.
You’ll get hands-on experience examining real public issues to become a systemic thinker with the deep analytical skills to be able to explore the intended and unintended consequences of policies.
Get inspired
Part business and part psychology, course content spans everything from game theory and strategic decision making to applied behavioural science. Behavioural insights can help guide critical decision-making in just about any context you can imagine, from financial, health and education decisions to addressing critical issues like climate change.
At UTS, you’ll explore and master best practice behavioural economics methods, learn to design and run experimental trials that inform new designs or policies, and engage with the ethical challenges of behavioural interventions that will shape your future practice.
