The Graduate Certificate in Creative Intelligence and Strategic Innovation (CISI) is a new type of postgraduate offering in cutting edge thinking and methods designed to fill gaps in professional and education training. It is specifically positioned to transform your professional capacities to develop new ways of responding to the complex, dynamic, open and networked problems you now face in your work.

The course is anchored around the key concepts of inquiry and creative intelligence, systems thinking, complexity, transdisciplinarity and futuring. You will encounter diverse professional contexts and reflect on, expand and interchange practices. Along the way you will evolve nuanced capabilities in responding to and working with different worldviews while harnessing context specific strategies.

The CISI course uses the transdisciplinary studio model where you will be immersed in different types of learning activities delivered through a blended learning environment, combining the best of face-to face and online learning.

The graduate certificate is a unique value add for professional experience and change makers looking for tools, practices and concepts to work at the leading edge.

If you would like to go deeper, the graduate certificate opens a pathway to a transdisciplinary Master by Research. This is a professionally facing program that takes the tools, thinking and practices you have learnt and embeds them into longer term system change.

Local student

In most cases, UTS offers domestic students entry to postgraduate courses on a fee paying basis.

Tuition fees are charged:

  • based on the particular course in which you are enrolled
  • based on the number of credit points in which you are enrolled
  • at the rates set for the current year and revised annually

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

Applicants must have the following:

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent AND a minimum of 2 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional experience in management, leadership, change, or innovation roles in a relevant professional occupation (listed below)

OR

  • A minimum of 5 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional experience in management, leadership, change, or innovation roles in a relevant professional occupation (listed below)

Relevant professional occupations:

  • 11 Chief Executives, General managers and Legislators; 13 Specialist Managers; 14 Hospitality, Retail and Service Managers; 2 Professionals; 51 Office Managers and Program Administrators

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

  • Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:
    • A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
    • A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
    • A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only)
    • An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business
    • A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)

The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

International students

Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.
