Overview
The scholarship aims to support a student from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent who has the passion, personal potential and commitment to undertake a UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
The Scholarship is supported by LEVO who is committed to increasing positive education and employment outcomes and creating opportunities for Indigenous students in the technology sector.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or TorresStrait Islander descent and provide either:
a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or
a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and
- Enrolled in the first year or intended to enrol one of the following UTS courses:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice or a combined Engineering course, majoring in software engineering or data science engineering;
- Bachelor of Information Technology;
- Bachelor of Computing Science (Honours);
- All applicants must apply using the UTS online Scholarship Application form to be eligible.
- All applicants must be able to attend an interview in person (either Face-to- Face or via Zoom).
Selection process
As demonstrated in the scholarship application and interview:
Passion for and motivation to succeed in their studies and pursue a career in the technology sector;
Initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives;
Evidence of how the scholarship would assist them perform and/ or achieve in their course at a higher level than would otherwise be the case;
Demonstrate how their personal values and aspirations align to the goals of the scholarship as outlined by LEVO’s scholarship purpose.
