Currently enrolled students

If you are a currently enrolled international student, any credit balance in your account will usually be carried forward to your next session.

However, you can obtain a refund of your tuition fees to a local bank account on request, in the following circumstances:

  • you have paid more than the tuition fees charged for a full-time load, for the current session
  • you have been issued with a temporary visa, other than a student visa, which allows you to remain in Australia – please provide a certified copy of your new visa

*any credit from your initial deposit is non-refundable. For more information, please visit Protocol on refund of fees for international students.

Withdrawn or completed students

If you complete your course or withdraw from UTS, we will process your refund on request. However, there are rules regarding whether your refund can be made to you in Australia or your home country.

If you are a first semester student, your refund will be processed in accordance with the Protocol on refund of fees for international students.

Note: Your refund request must be made directly to UTS International.

If you have withdrawn from or completed your course, your refund MUST be made to an overseas bank account.

The only exceptions where you can provide a local bank account are:

  • you are withdrawn from over-enrolled credit points following a successful appeal of a final subject result
  • the refund amount is less than $1000
  • you have been issued with a temporary visa, other than a student visa, which allows you to remain in Australia – please provide a certified copy of your new visa
  • you are transferring to another education provider – please provide a copy of your new letter of offer, and enter the bank account details of that education provider

Requesting a refund

For all current international students except first session students, you may request a refund by submitting your bank account details by logging into My Student Admin and clicking on the Personal tab, and select the ‘Bank Account Details’ link, then request your refund through Ask UTS.

Please allow up to four (4) weeks for your refund to be processed, once your request is received.

First session students, please contact UTS International to apply for a fee refund.

Acknowledgement of Country

UTS acknowledges the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation and the Boorooberongal People of the Dharug Nation upon whose ancestral lands our campuses now stand. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders both past and present, acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of knowledge for these lands.
