What you’ll study
Within this degree, you'll complete a range of core Sustainability and Environment subjects, where you'll learn about global decarbonisation efforts, discover how sustainability efforts are measured and get hands-on with a professional placement.
You'll also undertake a number of core Public Health units, developing your understanding of health systems, statistics and promotion. Choosing a Health Sciences stream of either Governance, Industry or Scientific Perspectives will help you further strengthen your learning experience and build vital insight into your chosen area.

First year
You’ll commence your studies by engaging in core units in both your Public Health and Sustainability and Environment streams, allowing you to establish a solid foundation of knowledge. You’ll learn about the biosphere, health statistics, nature and evolution and more. -
Second year
Building on your fundamentals, you’ll continue your core studies and undertake more advanced courses, developing your knowledge of health systems and project management. You’ll also enhance your scientific knowledge through your choice of governance and science electives. -
Third year
This year, you will continue to grow your expertise in Sustainability, learning about planetary decarbonisation and completing more electives, based on your choice of stream. You’ll also study communicable and non-communicable diseases and find out how public health officials work to prevent, manage and control them. -
Fourth year
In your last year, you’ll finalise any outstanding core or elective units, getting insight into areas like Indigenous health, promotion and advocacy. You’ll round out your education with two practical placements, giving you hands-on experience in a professional health setting. -
Honours
Eligible students can apply for the Bachelor of Public Health (Honours). Completion of this program requires an additional year of full-time study.
