Understand public health challenges with an international perspective
The UTS Bachelor of Public Health Bachelor of International Studies gives you the skills and knowledge to build better health outcomes through international engagement. You'll develop an understanding of health systems and policies across the world, and by choosing from one of six health majors, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of public health in your area of specialty and its global roles and responsibilities.
Blending health-specific content with practical, hands-on studies in your country and your choice of six languages, this unique interdisciplinary program will give you the ability to connect with different cultures, vital for managing public health projects.
What's more, with a range of exchange opportunities on offer, you'll get the chance to obtain first-hand experience living and working abroad. As a graduate, you'll be ready to work with organisations in Australia and abroad to reduce health inequality and promote social justice on a global scale.

What you’ll study
Designed to be completed in four years full-time or eight years part-time, this program will expose you to a range of first-class educational opportunities. Get in-depth with your choice of Public Health major, choosing from Global Health, Population Health, Health Promotion, Human Structure and Function, Indigenous Health or a flexible major.
You'll also get the chance to focus your learning in your country of interest, building vital cultural knowledge, communication skills and language capabilities. Through your pathway options, you'll get the chance to go further with opportunities for exchange, internships and honours study.

First year
You'll begin your degree by undertaking a number of core Public Health subjects. You'll study Statistics, Systems, Epidemiology and Primary Care, then round out your first year with a foundational course in communicating across cultures. -
Second year
This year, you’ll begin strengthening your language skills and developing an advanced understanding of your country and culture of choice. You'll also get more insight into Public Health, learning about the prevention and control of diseases and health project management. -
Third year
You’ll continue growing your language and cultural knowledge and get vital insights into advocacy and Indigenous wellbeing. You'll also complete a professional placement and elective subjects, from within Public Health or other UTS disciplines like arts, science or business. -
Fourth year
In your final year, you’ll focus entirely on your International Studies stream. Your pathway option will see you get to experience an exciting global exchange, from a short placement, six month placement or 12 month honours degree overseas. -
Honours
Eligible students can apply for the Bachelor of Public Health (Honours). Completion of this program requires an additional year of full-time study.
