What you’ll study
This degree will give you a practically-focused education, equipping you with the capabilities you need for a successful future in fashion design. You'll learn to design, illustrate and construct garments, design and create fabrics and other textiles, and benefit from a range of hands-on experiences.

First year
You’ll begin by undertaking foundational subjects in your core disciplinary streams and design studies. You'll learn about important cultural and historical perspectives in fashion, discover the elements that make up fashion design research and development and build practical skills in Visual Illustration and Technical Sketching, Digital Fashion Design Programs, Flat Patternmaking and Garment Construction. -
Second year
You'll continue your education this year with practical education in Illustration, Experimental Textile Construction and Digital and Screen Printing. You'll also establish vital practical skills in Drape-Led Design techniques, Knit and Stretch Garment Design and Construction, as well as the opportunity to develop an international outlook for fashion design and manufacture through our Global Studio elective offering. -
Third year
In your final year, you'll activate your learned design skills in advanced studio subjects, across Textiles Design, and Garment Design and Technical Construction alongside professional practice subjects preparing you with industry relevant skills. Elective units, including a Transdisciplinary elective, allow you to shape your own learning and enhance your collaborative skills.
Course highlights
Within this course, you'll undertake a number of core disciplinary units, which we teach you vital capabilities such as Textile Design and Construction, Flat Patternmaking and Drape Design skills, foundations in Fashion Design Technologies and Visualisation skills. There will be opportunities to enhance your knowledge with your design studies and elective units, spanning topics from Dye Methods to Machine Knitting.
