  This course is designed for those wanting to gain legal qualifications while also developing expertise in strategic communication. What sets this course apart is its dual focus on advanced communication skills in the context of public-facing communication initiatives and comprehensive legal education, meeting the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW.

  You will learn to design and implement communication strategies, understand the legal framework governing public engagement, and develop specialist knowledge in media, entertainment, and contract law. Electives offer the chance to study media law and explore Legal Futures and Technology, preparing you for the evolving landscape of legal work.

  Teaching methods include interactive classes, practical workshops and case studies providing a dynamic learning environment that bridges theory and real-world application. This approach ensures you are well-equipped for roles such as communication strategist, corporate adviser, or legal expert within the strategic communication sector.

   

  This degree enables students to explore strategic communication processes and industries – such as advertising and public relations – in their social, economic and political contexts. Course content emphasises specialist skills in communication campaign design and production, as well as an in-depth exploration of legal theory and practice that meets the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW.

  Using their elective choices, students can build specialist expertise in areas such as media, entertainment and contract law. They can also choose to study the Legal Futures and Technology major as a way of gaining first-hand experience of the technologies shaping the future of legal work.

  Your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a score between 0.00 and 99.95. It shows you how you rank compared to all the students in your year group in New South Wales. A selection rank combines your ATAR with any other adjustment points that make up your overall university entrance score. Your selection rank may differ from university to university, depending on the adjustment points granted to you at each institution.

  The course is offered on a five-year, full-time basis. Students are required to attend approximately 17 hours of seminars and lectures a week, and may be required to attend evening classes for the law component.

  Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

  Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

  All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.

  Your tuition fees do not include: 

  • The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), which supports student services and activities. If eligible, you can defer this fee using SA-HELP.
  • Textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.
  • Any applicable payment processing fees (e.g., credit card surcharges).

  This course satisfies the requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a lawyer, provided students complete a practical legal training program, such as the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice (C11232).
