What you'll study
Within this program, you’ll complete an array of core subjects, building your essential competencies and knowledge of the Animation Production discipline. With a focus on practical studio-based learning, you’ll develop capabilities in reaching an audience through character driven narratives, 2D and 3D design, and hybrid animation performance, concluding your studies with a hands-on project where you’ll work with industry partners to design and pitch your own animated series, whilst completing you own original capstone short film.
You’ll also get the chance to enhance your professional skills through communication and digital media studies and discover areas of particular interest with your choice of disciplinary electives.

First year
Commencing your studies, you’ll get hands-on with introductory studio studies in animation design and language. You’ll also benefit from class-based learning, building insights into the digital media industry, and get to curate your own course with your first elective unit. -
Second year
This year, you’ll enhance your knowledge of narrative and character design, engaging in experimentation and advanced rigging. You’ll also establish competencies in communicating differences and undertake another elective, chosen from topics such as global cinema, storyboard development and creative advertising. -
Third year
You’ll complete any remaining units and enhance your knowledge in 2D or 3D animation design and practice. Your Industry Project will provide a capstone to your learning, giving you the chance to produce a short, animated film in collaboration with a partner organisation.

This practical course goes far beyond theory, giving you sought after capabilities in 2D and 3D animation, narrative, worldbuilding, character design and performance, as well as attributes like creative thinking and collaboration. You’ll become a well-rounded professional who draws inspiration from the world around you to create compelling, character driven, high quality animations.
