About us

Research at the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience (LCMN ) is focused on investigating the mechanisms that sustain brain inflammation in order to identify effective therapeutic targets. We have reasoned that, in most neurocognitive disorders including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s or even more subtle conditions like post-traumatic stress disorders, the ongoing brain inflammation that is usually observed is likely to be responsible for the worsening of the condition over time. Therefore, our research strategy is to identify novel targets that can ultimately halt neuroinflammation and arrest the progressive cognitive decline seen in many afflicted patients. The final goal is to extend the life-span of people affected by these devastating conditions, but most importantly, improve their quality of life and that of their carers.
