This course is designed for individuals aiming to excel in construction project management and adapt to international professional environments. What sets this course apart is its integration of cutting-edge digital technologies, such as building information modelling, with practical industry experience. You'll secure a minimum of 200 days of industry placement, often as paid cadetships, providing you with invaluable professional insights.

You will acquire expertise in project, construction, design, and business management, as well as quantity surveying and contract administration. The course also offers the flexibility to explore related fields through electives, enriching your professional and personal growth.

Learning is hands-on, with a strong emphasis on applying project management methodologies to real-world scenarios. You'll engage with industry professionals and gain practical experience, ensuring you're job-ready upon graduation.

Graduates can pursue diverse roles, including project and construction management, quantity surveying, and property development, across both private and public sectors. This course equips you to collaborate with various industry professionals and opens doors to a career that shapes the built environment.

The emphasis on the utilisation of digital technologies, such as building information modelling, ensures that students understand the leading-edge advances that are being implemented in the industry. All students are required to complete a minimum of 200 days' industry experience during the course, providing essential professional exposure. For the vast majority of students this entails paid employment in the industry with contractors and consultants (typically called cadetships). To broaden their personal and professional outlook, students can also choose electives or a sub-major in a range of disciplines outside construction project management, including business studies, environmental studies, international studies and Aboriginal studies.

This course is concerned with the management of all aspects of the construction process, including project management, construction management, design management, business management, quantity surveying, contract administration and property development. It delivers all the recognised competencies for construction project management professionals while introducing the opportunities to diversify into project management fields in other industry sectors.

Local student

All students at UTS pay tuition fees to contribute towards the cost of their studies.

In 2024 all offers made to domestic undergraduate students will be for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP), which means that the Australian government makes a substantial contribution towards the cost of your education, and you pay the balance through student contributions.

The amount you pay depends on your area of study and the number of credit points (cp) in which you enrol. At UTS 48 credit points is considered to be one Equivalent Full Time Study Load (EFTSL).

The table to the right shows the amount a student can expect to pay for one year of full-time study (1.0 EFTSL).

Students can choose to pay their student contribution upfront, or if eligible, can defer their fees through HECS-HELP.

In addition to tuition fees, students are required to pay a Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). The purchase of textbooks and other course materials may also result in additional cost.

You can calculate your student contribution as a percentage of the amounts shown on the table. Fee rates are divided into four bands covering broad discipline areas. It is important to note that a particular subject within a course may fall within a different band.

For example, if you are enrolled in a 6-credit point Architecture subject, your contribution would be 6/48 x $9,314 = $1,164.

Tuition fees must be paid in advance each session and are subject to annual increase. Fees for future year(s) published in fees search, whilst unlikely to change, are estimates only. For this course, the cost per credit point for 2025 is $838. The total credit points are 288.

Course duration

This course is offered on a six-year, full-time basis. The contact hours allocated to each subject are nominal and often involve a combination of lectures, tutorials, workshops and self-directed teaching methods.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

Admission to the combined degree is on merit according to the admissions selection criteria for the Bachelor of Construction Project Management (C10214).

The Faculty-based adjustment scheme awards ten (10) adjustment points to female applicants.

Applicants who have completed a TAFE Diploma in one the following areas receive five (5) adjustment points: Building/Planning/Architectural Technology/Design/Architectural Drafting/Civil Engineering/Project Management.

Students must refer to the inherent requirements for all degrees offered by Design and Architecture in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building and for the Bachelor of International Studies offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.

Assumed knowledge

There are no prior language requirements for the international studies program. During their first year of study students complete a language survey to ensure they commence their language and culture study at the appropriate level.

Students who have completed (C10215) Bachelor of Construction Project Management Bachelor of International Studies course are eligible for exemptions of up to 24 credit points within (C04006) Master of Project Mangement or (C04317) Master of Property Development and Project Management.
