Thesis Title: Levy v Von Moltke: How the form of the narrative influences collective and individual memory and shapes perception of an historical event
The legal action of Levy v Von Moltke (South Africa, 1934) was the first case that demonstrated that the notorious antisemitic document, the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion' was a fabrication. The thesis explores this case and considers why the Protocols continue to have currency despite repeated refutations and whether there are effective mechanisms for countering the Protocols' influence and dissemination.
