Dean's List
The Dean’s List recognises outstanding academic achievement in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering and Information Technology.
To be eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List, a student must meet the following conditions:
- achieved a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 85 for subjects studied in their FEIT course for the previous academic year (note: pass/fail grades are not included).
- gained a minimum of 24 credit points of graded subjects in their FEIT course for the previous academic year.
- no failed subjects in the previous academic year.
- no misconduct formal warnings or penalties in the previous or current academic year.
- no active sanctions in the previous academic year.
The Dean's List is usually collated in May each year and awarded based on the year it is released. For example, the 2022 Dean's list is based on results from the 2021 academic year.
As of the Dean's list 2022 and onward, eligible students will have their achievement noted on their official academic record (transcript) and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS). Eligible students are also sent a soft copy Certificate of Award. Those included on the Dean's list 2021 and/or prior cannot have this retroactively added to their student documents, and should therefore retain a copy of Certificate of Award as proof of their achievement.
Dean's Merit List
The Dean's Merit List typically comprises the top 10 undergraduate Engineering students and the top 10 undergraduate Information Technology students from the Dean's List, ranked by WAM over the previous academic year.
In the case where there is more than one student with a WAM equal to or very close to the cutoff, the Faculty may place a small number of additional students on the Dean's Merit List.
While the Dean's List typically contains several hundred students, the Dean's Merit List is intended to recognise the outstanding performance of a small number of exceptional students.
A Certificate of Award and Letter of Commendation is presented at the Faculty's annual prize-giving event. From 2022 onwards, eligible students will also have the Dean's Merit list noted on their official academic record (transcript) and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS).
