What you’ll study

This course can be completed in two years full-time or four years part-time. The majority of your program will consist of core units, where you'll build critical capabilities and knowledge of both Property Development and Planning.

You'll study subjects like planning and environmental law, urban design, finance and economics, spatial analysis, sustainable development, and property development and investment. Finally, you'll complete either a major project or a minor project and an elective of your choice, creating an original, research-backed planning exercise, giving you the hands-on experience highly regarded by industry.

What sets this course apart is its focus on practical application, preparing you for roles in local, metropolitan, and regional planning, as well as private and public property development.
You will gain insights into urban planning and property development, learn to apply sustainability and design principles, and master assessment of development feasibility.
Teaching and learning will be interactive, combining theory with real-world application, ensuring you acquire both knowledge and practical skills for your professional advancement.
This course is for property and planning professionals who want to upgrade their qualifications or expertise or for those who wish to enter the property and planning industries. In their first year students develop an understanding of how to balance private and public interests in urban development, how urban economies work, how urban design and sustainability principles are applied, and how development feasibility is assessed.
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

Applicants must have one of the following:
- Completed Australian bachelor's or master’s degree, or overseas equivalent
OR
- Completed UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Property Development, UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Planning, UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Property and Planning, or UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning (online) or UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Design (online) or UTS Graduate Certificate or UTS Graduate Diploma in Urban Design (online) with a minimum GPA of 5/7
OR
- Completed Australian graduate certificate or graduate diploma, or overseas equivalent, in a related field of study with a minimum GPA of 5/7 AND A minimum of 3 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional experience AND An interest in the course and demonstrated understanding of the opportunities present in Property Development and Planning
Applicants who do not meet the criteria above should consider applying for C11270 Graduate Certificate in Planning.

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

For applicants who need to demonstrate work experience:
- Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:
  - A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
  - A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
  - A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only)
  - An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business
  - A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)
Related fields of study and areas of relevant professional experience include:
