Commonwealth Supported Places

There are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available in this course, which are competitive and awarded based on merit. To be considered for a CSP, applicants must:

  • Indicate their interest in a CSP on their application.
  • Apply on time in line with CSP deadlines (it is recommended applicants apply early as applications are assessed progressively).

25% Academic Merit Scholarship

There is a 25% Academic Merit Scholarship available in 2025. Eligible students must commence a Master's or Master (extension) postgraduate course program in the Faculty of Science.

What you’ll study

This postgraduate program is designed for graduates who possess a relevant undergraduate qualification in a related field. Within this degree, you'll undertake several core subjects unique to the Medical Biotechnology program, building your capabilities in areas like microscopy, proteomics and microbiology. 

You'll also complete subjects designed to develop your professional science toolkit, including leadership, communication and statistical design. Your choice of disciplinary electives will allow you to tailor your learning journey to meet your unique goals and interests, offering you the chance to engage in research projects, management studies and more.

    You'll begin your studies with a number of core subjects, establishing essential competencies in areas like systems biology, bionanotechnology, infectious diseases and microbiology. You'll also complete professional preparation subjects to develop your science communication and statistical design capabilities. 
  2. Second year

    You'll direct your own learning with your choice of professional and disciplinary electives. Get hands-on experience with a research project, learn career-building skills with management studies or go deeper with advanced studies in areas like analytical spectroscopy and precision medicine.
