  The Master of International Commercial and Business Law is open to both law and non-law applicants and allows you to deepen your understanding of business and commercial law in a global context. This course does not qualify you to be a lawyer.

  This program is distinctive in allowing you the freedom to select 42 credit points of study that align with your personal and professional ambitions from an extensive array of electives. in business and commercial fields including financial reporting and management, marketing, insolvency, corporate governance, company and securities law, and international trade law.

  This course provides you with the opportunity to learn essential law content and fundamental business law knowledge. This combination will enable you to appreciate the practise of law in the business environment and enhance your career prospects in the commercial field.

  You will be challenged by the academically rigorous, industry informed and specialist content, guided by members of our unique learning community including experienced academics, practitioners and industry experts. You will enjoy a flexible learning environment that allows you to balance work or other commitments with subjects offered in a variety of delivery modes, including collaborative face-to-face seminars, evening classes and intensives.   The degree is highly customisable – students pursue 42 credit points of study based on their personal or professional interests, choosing from a wide range of commercial and business law electives. Students have to study 6 credit points of core subject which focus on commercial and business law areas.

  Course content is delivered by a mix of practising law professionals, academic staff and international visiting academics, giving students access to a wide range of expertise and perspectives on the study and practice of law in commercial contexts.

  This course is offered on a one-year, full-time or two-year, part-time basis. Subjects may also be available in Summer session, allowing accelerated progression.

• Admission requirements arrow_forward_ios

  To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  Applicants must have one of the following:

  • Completed Australian doctorate, or overseas equivalent, in any field of study

  OR

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or Australian master’s degree, or overseas equivalent, in any field of study with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7

  OR

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or Australian master’s degree, or overseas equivalent, in any field of study with a minimum GPA of 3.8/7 AND Capacity to study demonstrated through relevant professional work experience

  OR

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or Australian master’s degree, or overseas equivalent, in any field of study with a minimum GPA between 3.3 and 3.79/7 AND Completed graduate certificate or graduate diploma with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7

  OR

  • Completed UTS Graduate Diploma in Business Administration

  OR

  • Completed UTS Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with a minimum GPA of 5/7

  Applicants who have completed an unspecified non-UTS graduate certificate or graduate diploma will be only considered if they have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree with the required GPA.

  Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

  For applicants who need to demonstrate capacity to pursue this course:

  • Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:
    • A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
    • A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
    • A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only)
    • An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business
    • A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)
  • Personal statement outlining relevant professional experience and an understanding of the opportunities present in international commercial and business law.
  • Relevant work-related references

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for domestic students

  As a postgraduate student, you'll be responsible for covering your own tuition fees.

  2025 Tuition Fee

  • Indicative first-year tuition fee:  $34,250.00
  • Indicative total tuition fee:  $34,250.00

  You can choose to pay your fees upfront per session, or if you’re eligible, you can defer them using a government FEE-HELP loan. This loan helps you cover all or part of your tuition fees. Keep in mind that applications for this loan are specific to each course.

  Additional Costs 

  Your tuition fees do not include:

  • The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), which supports student services and activities. If eligible, you can defer this fee using SA-HELP.
  • Textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.
  • Any applicable payment processing fees (e.g., credit card surcharges).

  • The indicative tuition fees above are based on full-time study (1 year = 48 credit points).
  • Your actual fees depend on the year you enrol, your study load and the subjects you choose. Some subjects fall into different student contribution bands.

  Inherent requirements are academic and non-academic requirements that are essential for successfully completing a course at UTS. You can find the inherent requirements for your course via the inherent requirements directory.

• Recognition of prior learning arrow_forward_ios

  Students who successfully complete Master of International Commercial and Business Law (C04432) may apply for 24cp of elective credit to be applied to the Juris Doctor (C04236), the Master of Legal Studies (C04264), or Master of Laws (C04143).

• Transfer between UTS courses arrow_forward_ios

  Students enrolled in Master of International Commercial and Business Law (C04432) can be offered an internal course transfer (ICT) into the Master of International Commercial and Business Law Master of Business Administration (C04433) with no minimum criteria required.
