What you’ll study

Designed to be completed in five years full time, this program will expose you to a range of first-class educational opportunities. Clinical simulations and a diverse range of clinical placements, ensure you’re developing high level clinical and critical thinking skills. 

Your international exchange will take you to a new culture, giving you a global perspective on your degree. A wide choice of elective subjects allows you to sample different nursing specialties including critical care, perioperative, paediatrics, aged care and mental health.

The outline below shows an example program for the Bachelor of Nursing Bachelor of International Studies based on a full-time study load. Please note that your exact program may differ based on your unique circumstances, such as your subject selections and recognition of prior learning.

  1. First Year

    You'll start your degree with foundational nursing subjects, including Anatomy, Physiology, and Bioscience, and finish the year with an introduction to International Studies, focusing on language and culture. You'll also learn foundational clinical skills and patient care to practice in your first clinical placement.
  2. Second Year

    Continuing your studies, you'll deepen your nursing knowledge in areas like Indigenous health and wellbeing , pharmacology, and chronic illness management. Additionally, you'll advance your language proficiency and explore the cultural and societal aspects of your chosen country.
  3. Third Year

    You'll enhance your nursing capabilities with clinical placements and study specialised subjects such as aged care and mental health, while continuing to build on your language skills and cultural understanding. You’ll also be introduced to pharmacology and pathophysiology.
  4. Fourth Year

    You'll embark on a year-long international exchange, immersing yourself in your chosen country's healthcare system and culture. This hands-on experience will consolidate your nursing and language skills, preparing you for a global nursing career.
  5. Fifth Year

    Completing your degree, you’ll undertake a leadership and teaching subject, participate in the last of your clinical placements and consolidate your foundational learning, preparing you for a transition into the workforce. You’ll graduate prepared to register as a nurse.
  6. Honours

    Eligible students can apply for the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours). Completion of this program requires an additional year of full-time study.
