You’ll build essential knowledge in law with our industry-informed curriculum and experience practical learning through fieldwork, mooting, and mentoring. Meanwhile, you’ll also develop as an advanced innovative thinker through industry experiences and projects and get the chance to take your learning further with the optional Legal Futures and Technology major. This exit-only degree is available exclusively to students in the Bachelor of Laws Bachelor of Creative Intelligence who have met the eligibility requirements for an honours award.

What you’ll study
Within your law studies, you'll undertake a range of core law subjects, building your comprehensive understanding of the legal system and its various perspectives, roles and approaches. To attain your honours, you'll research and write a 10,000-word legal thesis on a topic of your choice.
Meanwhile, your Creative Intelligence and Innovation program will guide you as you develop advanced, future-ready skills in creative thinking, strategic problem-solving and entrepreneurship. Putting your learning into practice, you'll get hands-on with your choice of internship or start-up project.

First year
You'll begin your degree journey by studying core Law subjects, building vital foundational knowledge in areas like ethics, justice, criminal law and the Australian Constitution. You'll also begin developing your creative thinking and problem-solving skills. -
Second year
Continuing your legal education, you'll learn about civil practice, evidence and key disciplines such as administrative, international and commercial law. You'll examine the past and future of innovation, attaining an in-depth understanding of the role it plays in our society. -
Third year
Your third year will see you finalise your law studies, completing your thesis and the subjects required to fulfil your honours requirements. You'll hone your understanding of creative intelligence further before getting practical experience in your innovation internship. -
Fourth year
In your last year of study, you'll focus entirely on your Creative Intelligence program, undertaking either a second internship or designing your own speculative start-up. You'll then transfer your course prior to graduation to be awarded your degree with honours.

Industry accreditation
This course satisfies the requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a lawyer, provided students complete a Practical Legal Training (PLT) program, such as the UTS Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice.
