What you’ll study

In your Law studies, you'll complete a range of core units, building your essential knowledge in areas like contracts, ethics and justice, evidence and constitutional law. You can also elect to pursue a major in Legal Futures and Technology or else undertake a range of Law options to broaden your disciplinary knowledge. 
 
Meanwhile, your core Communications units will give you a comprehensive understanding of this fascinating field. You'll then specialise your knowledge in your Journalism major, covering topics like media law and ethics, news, digital journalism and investigation. 

The course comprises 240 credit points.

Course highlights

This degree is designed to give you the theoretical and practical skills you need to become a journalism or law professional. You’ll get a chance to study the intellectual, ethical and political foundations of both disciplines and build the research, writing, and analytical capabilities highly sought after in both fields. 

Industry accreditation

This course satisfies the academic requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a lawyer. Once completed, you will also need to complete a practical legal training program, such as the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice (available at UTS) to be eligible for admission as a lawyer.
