Professor Anita Stuhmcke is UTS's Dean of the Faculty of Law. Professor Stuhmcke is committed to excellence and the advancement of social justice, accessibility of legal education and inclusion.
Dean - Faculty of Law
As Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Stuhmcke's key responsibilities are to:
- lead the academic development of and the pursuit of excellence by the Faculty in learning and teaching, research, engagement and the student experience
- ensure a culture of excellence, collegiality and highest performance standards across the Faculty
- ensure the ongoing development of innovative and relevant courses - nationally and internationally - at all levels, with sector leadership in graduate workplace reputation and graduate success
- provide academic leadership by representing the Faculty and by promoting scholarship, learning and teaching and research in its disciplines/fields in the university and externally, including coordinating links with the community, government, industry and the professions
- take the lead in forging cross-Faculty partnerships and innovative new course offerings and trans-disciplinary subjects which are sought after by government, not-for-profit, industry and the professions.
Professor Stuhmcke was appointed Dean in December 2021. Prior to this appointment Professor Stuhmcke held a variety of management roles both across the wider University and within the Faculty of Law. Professor Stuhmcke began her career as a commercial lawyer in a large Australian law firm before joining the University sector as an associate lecturer.
Professor Stuhmcke is committed to her teaching through providing a quality student educational experience as well as to excellence in research through making an intervention in contemporary debate. Professor Stuhmcke’s research has had national and international impact - leading to law reform concerning reproductive rights and ombudsman.
