Democracy and global energy transition: the hydrocarbon sector in Australia
Australian climate and energy policy has recently been highly disrupted, raising important questions of governance capacity. Transnationally-linked hydrocarbon corporations (THCs) exert considerable influence on policy options, but their modes of organisation are not well understood or publicly visible.
This inter-disciplinary project – integrating methods from accounting, information science, media studies, sociology of technology, and political geography – analyses the organisation of the fossil fuel sector and the interaction of THCs with Australian democracy, government and environmental policy-making.
