September 2015 Edition
We are happy to report that UTS has leapt 46 places in the latest QS World University Rankings, taking its global ranking position to 218 overall. While UTS remains Australia’s top ranked university in the Times Higher Education 100 universities under 50 years of age and has been ranked number 1 in the world for the top 1% of papers in mathematics and computer science, the global ranking position of UTS in Engineering and Technology is now at 109.
Two UTS research leaders, Prof Dayong Jin (Science) and Prof Dacheng Tao (Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology) were awarded Eureka Prizes, Australia's most comprehensive national science awards. Prof Dikai Liu and the CAS team of the Faculty won a Merit Award in the New Product Category of the Development Domains at the iAwards. Our own Asso. Prof Jinyan Li is part of a team which won the Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Research in the “Big Data, Big Impact” category this year.
At AAi, we are very proud of such achievements and being part of the team contributing in the areas of data analytics and data science. We also believe, in addition to a suite of good technical skills, data scientists need to work in a team setting to advance the application of science and knowledge in problem solving and business solutions. We are working on an Analytics Capability Framework to address this issue. Contact us at advancedanalytics@uts.edu.au if you would like to know more, or have a view to share.
Remember: there’s no shortage of useful data in most organisations and government departments which, when properly mined and interpreted by AAi, can created unexpected opportunities for driving productivity and business growth.
