Undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Communication transition arrangements

This information is for students who commenced prior to 2016 in the following courses:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication (various majors)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies
  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Bachelor of Laws
  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation

Most of the subjects from your degree program have been phased out and will no longer be offered from 2016.

Your study plan has been updated with alternative subjects from the new Bachelor of Communication program where relevant.

FAQs

Do I have to move to the new course?

No. You can remain in your current course. The subjects that were available when you first started your course will no longer be on offer – instead, they will have been replaced by an equivalent subject from the new course. Your study plan will be updated with the equivalent subjects. Please review the subject substitution list for more detail.

What do I do if I want to move to the new course?

Current Bachelor of Arts in Communication students who would like to move to the new Bachelor of Communication courses need to apply via UAC.

I’m in a Bachelor of Arts in Communication combined course and wish to drop the combined component of my course (International Studies, Creative Intelligence and Innovation or Law). What do I need to do?

As long as you’re planning to remain in the same major, you can submit an internal course transfer application.

Please note the following:

  • Students who were admitted into a combined International Studies or Creative Intelligence course (pre-2016) will be transferred to the pre-2016 version of the single degree – Bachelor of Arts in Communication (all majors). This will allow those students to complete with the right course for the subjects they have completed.
  • Students who were admitted into a Law combined course (pre-2016) will be transferred to the current version of the course - the Bachelor of Communication. This will allow those students to complete with the right course for the subjects they have completed.
