How to defer payment

SA-HELP is a scheme to defer payment of SSAF and is available to:

  • eligible New Zealand citizens.
Make sure you apply for SA-HELP before the SSAF due date (you won't be eligible to defer the fee after the due date):
  1. Log into My Student Admin. Click on the Government Forms tab.
  2. Click Add New and then Submit a Request for SA-HELP Assistance form.
  3. Check your details are correct and fill in the form. You will need your tax file number for this.
  4. If SA-HELP is approved, it lasts for the duration of your course (no need to reapply).
If you change your course (including switching between a double and single degree), you will need to reapply for SA-HELP.

If you are a cross-institutional student, you're are only eligible for SA-HELP from your home institution. You must pay SSAF upfront for subjects taken at UTS.

What happens if you don’t pay or defer SSAF

If you don’t pay or request to defer your SSAF by the due date, an overdue fees sanction is applied to your UTS account. This means that until the fee is paid in full:

  • you can’t access your results at the end of session
  • can’t obtain any documentation from UTS
  • you’re not eligible to graduate.
