What you’ll study
This program blends academic knowledge with workplace learning to ensure you are practice-ready upon graduation. You’ll complete coursework and clinical practice to hone your knowledge and implementation of the evidence in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of a variety of communication and swallowing disabilities.
You’ll learn about inclusive and respectful practice and receive comprehensive training in cutting-edge trends and technologies, including Generative AI, telepractice, the use of e-health records and other digital health advancements. You’ll also study service provision, including practice management strategies in speech pathology.

First year
In the first year, you’ll study evidence-based practice in speech pathology, anatomy and neuroanatomy, speech and language, multimodal communication, swallowing, and more. You’ll also undertake your first clinical placement in a children’s speech pathology clinic. -
Second year
You’ll acquire knowledge of stuttering, voice disorders and acquired communication disability and produce a literature review. You’ll also complete five clinical placements in child and adult clinics. You’ll learn about resolving complex issues and ensuring inclusive practice across diverse populations.
Course highlights
This course will develop your clinical capabilities to work as a speech pathologist with children and adults with communication and swallowing disabilities. You’ll also learn how to apply digital health technologies including Generative AI and telehealth for success in contemporary services.
