Work and Study Off-campus
Overview
Off-campus activities are those activities initiated by the University that take place away from the main precincts (City campus, Moore Park, Tech Lab - Botany, Yarramundi, Powerhouse Museum, and Stroud) of UTS. Off-campus activities fall into two main categories:
Off-campus activities cover both domestic or international activities and placements. They cover the full range of University experiences including research, teaching, learning, internships, work placements, and conferences.

This will guide the organiser through the requirements which are based on the potential risk and the level of control that the University has over the activity.

UTS has a duty of care to protect the health and safety of its staff and students no matter where they are located. Staff and students must experience a level of safety off-campus that is no less than that provided on-campus.
Off-Campus Activities - Definitions

FIELDWORK Work in an environment not controlled by another organisation but where UTS controls the activity | Taking a student group on a field work activity. May involve driving , outdoor environments, water activities, working in public spaces. Includes overnight stays or longer. In each of these examples UTS control the activity. | ||
WORK IN A HOST ORGANISATION Visiting or working at premises controlled by another organisation. | May include a student placement to another organisation, a visit or site-tour, or observing work. Also includes visits to publicly accessible commercial environments controlled by another organisation such as a large shopping centre. |
