UTS 2027 strategy
UTS’s 2027 strategy was shaped throughout 2018 by ideas from our staff, students, alumni and industry partners. The strategy sets our direction for the next nine years.
We will transform to lifetime learning, focusing on five major elements that will be ‘uniquely UTS’:

UTS Business School: Differentiators and priorities
The UTS 2027 strategy provides an overarching vision and focus for our entire university, which will come to life differently in each faculty.

Education for the future of work and innovation
We are leading the development of future-oriented business education through innovative curriculum and creative delivery methods.
Public scholarship and engagement
We are a significant contributor to public debate on matters related to the social and political role of business in Australian society. Our high-level public engagement sets us apart from those business schools whose focus is more exclusively on disciplinary based scholarly contribution. UTS academics are in demand for public and media appearances, presentations at key public events, and writing for the media in areas such as:

Applied and world-leading business research
We lead business research in key areas of focus, as recognised by our performance in international rankings and Excellence in Research Australia. This focus is reflected in our research centres:

Research-led social justice practice
We are actively engaged with major research dedicated to improving social justice in Australia and the world. This is a unique distinction that allows impact beyond the more traditional focus on knowledge for business to knowledge for society. Examples of this include the Social Impact Measurement Toolbox.
Research and policy in the Business of Health
We are recognised as a leader in research and policy in the business of healthcare. Our work is distinctive in its focus on the social, economic and political implications of the ways health is organised, and dealing with the consequences of health policy and the provision of health services by private enterprise.
Our strategic priorities
The UTS Business School Advancement priorities, aligned to the UTS 2027 Strategy, leverage these key differentiators:
- Increase focus on projects that look at STEM, Health, Research, Disability and Long-Term Aged Care in the context of Business
- Create a Futures Academy for the engagement and re-skilling of the workforce
- Develop an Indigenous Strategy that strengthens the portfolio and offers unique programs
- Increase support and capacity of research portfolio
- Promote equity and increase support for women in management
